There are two forms that you need to be familiar with in applying for any state, federal or individual college Financial Aid.

  1. The CSS Profile used by some colleges, available on the College Board's website. The CSS Profile should be done in the Fall of your senior year. In 2017-2018, the only NJ colleges that requires this form is Stevens Institute of Technology. Pennsylvania colleges include Albright, Bryn Mawr, Bucknell, Carnegie Mellon, Dickinson, Drexel, Franklin and Marshall, Gettysburg, Haverford, Lafayette, Lehigh, Muhlenberg, Rosemont, Susquehanna, Swarthmore, University of Pennsylvania, Ursinus and Villanova. This document will give you a list of schools that require the profile.
  2. The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is used by all 2 and 4 year colleges, technical schools and other programs to assess your need for financial aid. This form can be done online at fafsa.gov. The FAFSA can be completed now as early as October 1st of your senior year starting with the high school class of 2017. Before that, you should acquire an electronic signature/PIN number for both the student and parent at pin.ed.gov. Be careful not to go to www.fafsa.com, this is a website that will charge you to file your FAFSA. Remember, the first word in FAFSA is "Free".
